Rapper Medikal has opened up about his close relationship with dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, describing it as a strong personal connection rooted in mutual respect, loyalty and shared life experiences rather than just music.
Speaking on Metro TV, Medikal said his relationship with Shatta Wale extends far beyond the entertainment space, stressing that what they share is more like family than industry collaboration.
He explained that the two communicate often and understand each other on several levels, which has strengthened their bond over time.
“We understand each other a lot… we gel a lot, we talk about so many things,” he said.
Medikal emphasised that their relationship has grown into something he considers deeply personal, adding that the feeling is mutual.
“Shatta is my family as well… it’s vice versa, it’s family,” he stated, noting that even their fan bases reflect that same sense of unity.
He added that the support they show each other publicly comes naturally because of the strength of their connection.
“It’s not far-fetched from showing each other love and stuff,” he said.
According to him, their conversations often extend beyond music into everyday life experiences.
“We even talk about normal life experiences and stuff,” he revealed.
Medikal also acknowledged Shatta Wale’s long-standing influence in the music industry, saying his experience plays a key role in their interactions.
“He’s been in the industry for a long time… he’s got loads of experience in that and outside the industry,” he added.
He described Shatta Wale as someone he connects with easily on a personal level.
“He’s actually a very cool person… he’s dope,” Medikal said.
