President John Dramani Mahama has nominated public finance expert Pamela Graham as Auditor-General, a move seen as part of efforts to strengthen financial oversight and restore confidence in state institutions.
The nomination, announced by the Presidency, is subject to consultation with the Council of State in line with Article 70(1)(b) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
Sources familiar with the process say the appointment forms part of broader reforms aimed at tightening accountability across the public sector.
Graham is widely regarded as an experienced figure in public financial management and auditing, with a reputation for professionalism and institutional governance.
If approved, she will replace Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, who has served in the role since September 2021.
The Auditor-General plays a key role in Ghana’s accountability system, overseeing the auditing of public accounts and ensuring compliance with financial regulations across government institutions.
The Council of State is expected to review the nomination in the coming days before advising the president on the appointment.
