The Director General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Kwesi Afreh Biney, has paid a courtesy call on the oldest SSNIT Pensioner, Amadu Walah.
Accompanied by other top officials of the scheme and some members of the Central Region Pensioners Association, Biney visited Walah at his residence at Cape Coast – Pedu to interact with him and assure him of the scheme’s commitment to safeguarding the belief that pensioners, SSNIT contributors, and stakeholders have bestowed in them to manage the Trust to their benefit.
Kwesi Afreh Biney commended Walah for his service to the nation and assured him that SSNIT will continue to cater for him.
“SSNIT represents the interest of workers especially those on pension. After checking our data, we saw that Amadu was the oldest pensioner of the scheme so we decided to pay him a visit to check up on him and assure him of our continued support, and commend him for his dedicated service to the country”, he stated.
He further stated that Walah’s age was a source of inspiration to all and prayed for long life for all who were gathered around.
Amadu was presented with a hamper and an undisclosed amount of money.
On his part, Amadu expressed gratitude to the team for their visit .
The 115 year old Amadu Walah, a retired driver who worked with the Ghana Health Service and the State Transport Company has being receiving SSNIT benefits for the past 55 years.
