Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been installed as a Lay Canon of the St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral in the Anglican Diocese of Koforidua.
The installation ceremony was officiated by the Rt Rev Felix Odei Annancy and attended by prominent Anglican leaders, including former Archbishop of the Province of West Africa, Most Rev. Gershon Allottey Okine, Most Rev. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, and the Anglican Bishop of Tema, Rt. Rev. George Neequaye.
The event was marked by a historic and joyous celebration, drawing congregants, traditional authorities, parliamentarians, and ministers from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
During the ceremony, Akufo-Addo took the oath of allegiance, pledging to serve the Church with dedication and integrity.
He affirmed his commitment to the doctrine and discipline of the Anglican Diocese of Koforidua, as upheld by the Church of the Province of West Africa and its Constitution.
“I promise to use the forms prescribed in the Book authorised by the Diocese of Koforidua, and none other, except as may be directed by lawful authority,” he stated.
Special prayers were offered for the former President, asking for divine grace and guidance through Jesus Christ. Clergy and congregants also prayed that God would grant him the strength and wisdom to faithfully carry out his new responsibilities.
