Ga chiefs react to Afia Schwarzenegger’s comments on Daddy Lumba

Ga-Adangbe traditional authorities have issued a stern warning to Ghanaian media personality Afia Schwarzenegger over remarks she made regarding the alleged burial of highlife icon Daddy Lumba on Ga land.

Speaking at a media engagement on Tuesday, 17 March, a spokesperson for the leadership expressed strong displeasure, describing her comments as disrespectful and inflammatory. He stated that her claims had insulted the dignity of the Ga-Adangbe people and would not be taken lightly.

“I don’t know who she is, but she has made statements that insult the Ga-Adangbe people. When we are done dealing with this matter, we will find out where she resides and respond appropriately,” the spokesperson said.

The leadership also revealed that the controversy has disrupted planned traditional activities in Nungua, forcing a postponement.

“We wish to inform the media and the general public that due to the circulating rumours, we have had to postpone our programme for today. This decision allows us to focus on addressing the allegations being directed at Nungua and the Ga-Adangbe community,” he explained.

According to the authorities, investigations are currently underway to verify the claims surrounding the alleged burial. They stressed that the matter is being treated with urgency given its cultural and traditional implications.

The spokesperson further warned that if it is confirmed that Daddy Lumba was buried on Ga land without the required customary approval, decisive action would be taken.

“Once we conclude our investigations, we will communicate a new date for the public to witness our next steps regarding this alleged unlawful burial in Nungua. Such an act is unacceptable, and if confirmed, the body will have to be exhumed and relocated to the appropriate place,” he stated.
