President John Dramani Mahama has appealed for calm and prayers for peace as the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran continues to escalate, warning of its wider global impact.
The President made the remarks on Monday at the Jubilee House during a meeting with the National Chief Imam and members of the Muslim community. He emphasised that the hostilities are not only affecting the Middle East but have consequences for the entire world.
“The conflict between the US and Israel and Iran is affecting not only the Middle East, it’s affecting the whole world. And so we pray that Allah would touch the hearts of everybody involved in this conflict and bring peace to the people in the area,” President Mahama said.
The meeting underscored the Presidency’s ongoing engagement with religious leaders to promote national unity, social cohesion, and collective prayer for peace in regions affected by conflict.
Analysts have warned that rising tensions in the Middle East could disrupt global security, energy markets, and international trade, making diplomatic efforts and dialogue critical.
President Mahama used the occasion to urge religious communities to come together in solidarity, highlighting that peace in conflict-affected areas is essential for broader global stability.
