The Chief Executive of the Youth Employment Agency, Mr. Malik Basintale, has called on tertiary students to identify their purpose, build valuable networks and develop relevant skills to thrive in today’s competitive global economy.
Mr. Basintale made the call at the Empower Vault Summit 2026, held in Accra. The event brought together students, young entrepreneurs and industry leaders for a day of inspiration, mentorship and skills development.
The summit featured panel discussions and interactive mentorship sessions where industry experts shared insights on leadership, financial literacy and business development. Speakers emphasised the importance of self-discovery, resilience and continuous learning as key ingredients for personal and professional success.
Participants were also encouraged to take advantage of opportunities in the digital space, entrepreneurship and innovation to create sustainable livelihoods.
Mr. Basintale noted that initiatives such as the Empower Vault Summit play an important role in preparing young people for the future and equipping them with the tools required to contribute meaningfully to national development.
Member of Parliament for the Weija-Gbawe Constituency, Mr. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, urged students to engage actively with mentors and industry experts to gain practical guidance on their career pathways.
Also addressing the summit, the Dean of Students Affairs at the Ghana Communication Technology University, Prof. Emelia Amoako Asiedu, encouraged tertiary students to intentionally shape their future paths in order to become influential figures in their communities.
The Empower Vault Summit, held under the theme “Fueling Purpose, Shaping Leaders,” forms part of a growing movement of youth-focused conferences across tertiary institutions aimed at equipping young people with the mindset, skills and confidence to pursue excellence in their chosen careers.
