Ghana Embassy in Qatar moves to assist travellers after airspace closure

The Embassy of Ghana in Doha has issued a notice to Ghanaians affected by the closure of airspace and the suspension of regular commercial flights in Qatar, urging them to submit their travel information to facilitate onward journeys.

In a statement dated 12 March 2026, the embassy said the directive follows guidance from Qatari authorities after flight operations were disrupted.

According to the notice, Ghanaians holding valid tickets with Qatar Airways—either those currently in transit through Doha or residents waiting to depart—are required to provide specific travel details to the mission.

The embassy asked affected travellers to submit their full names, biodata pages of their passports, and copies of their flight tickets via email to enable officials coordinate their departures from Doha to their respective destinations.

“The Embassy of Ghana wishes to inform Ghanaians affected by the closure of the airspace and suspension of regular commercial flights operations in Qatar that the host authorities have directed that Ghanaians with valid Qatar Airways tickets either in transit in Doha or residents awaiting their departures from Doha furnish the embassy with their names, biodata pages of their passports and copies of their tickets,” the statement said.

The embassy indicated that the information will help authorities facilitate the safe movement of affected passengers once travel arrangements are restored.

Officials have urged all impacted Ghanaian travellers to comply promptly with the request to enable the embassy coordinate assistance effectively.

The notice comes amid disruptions to commercial flight operations through Doha, a major international transit hub linking passengers to destinations across Africa, Europe and Asia.
