The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved a $310,000 honorarium for members of the newly restructured management committee as part of preparations for Ghana’s campaign toward the global football showpiece.
Each of the five committee members will receive $62,000, according to Sports Minister Kofi Adams, who disclosed the allocation during his appearance before Parliament’s Select Committee on Sports. The payment forms part of the broader budget proposal submitted to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for Ghana’s participation in the tournament.
The management committee was reconstituted after the dissolution of the previous team chaired by Mark Addo following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The new body is tasked with strengthening administrative coordination and overseeing preparations for the resumption of qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Randy Abbey leads the committee as chairman, with former national captain Stephen Appiah serving as vice-chairman in charge of player relations. Dr. Richard Nsenkyire handles special duties, while Moses Armah and Samuel Aboabire manage operational responsibilities aimed at improving team efficiency.
Minister Adams clarified that the $310,000 allocation is strictly an honorarium for committee members and does not cover player bonuses or other operational expenses linked to the World Cup campaign.
Overall spending for Ghana’s participation in the tournament is projected at $13.7 million. The budget includes management payments, player incentives, training, logistics, and other operational requirements needed for a competitive campaign.
The federation has also confirmed that Bryant University in the United States will serve as the team’s base camp during the tournament, providing facilities for training and preparation.
Ghana’s national side, the Black Stars, will compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the fifth time. The team has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
The campaign begins on 17 June against Panama, followed by a clash with England on June 23 and a final group-stage match with Croatia on June 27. Officials say the administrative restructuring and financial planning are aimed at ensuring the Black Stars mount a competitive challenge on the global stage.
