Mahama swears in new heads of fire and immigration services

President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in new heads of Ghana’s fire and immigration services, urging them to strengthen discipline, professionalism and operational effectiveness in their respective institutions.

At a ceremony at Jubilee House, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong was appointed Chief Fire Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, while Samuel Basintale Amadu was sworn in as Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service.

In a statement shared on the presidency’s official Facebook page, Mr Mahama said the appointments came with a responsibility to provide decisive leadership and improve institutional performance, particularly in emergency response and border management.

He also called on the two officials to uphold discipline and professionalism within their services, describing these as critical to safeguarding national security and public safety.

The Ghana National Fire Service plays a central role in fire prevention and disaster response, while the Immigration Service is responsible for border control and migration management.

The new appointments come as the government pushes broader reforms across the security and emergency services to improve efficiency and public confidence.
