Top 10 local and foreign celebrities born on Valentine’s Day

You’ll feel like a human heart-eyes emoji when you see these lovable Valentine’s babies.

These celebrities were struck by cupid’s birthday arrow on Valentine’s Day.

Check out our list of famous people turning a year older today (14 February) and learn an interesting fact about each of them.

  1. Nana Kwame Bediako

Popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, is an entrepreneur, industrialist, real estate mogul and philanthropist.

He is the founder and CEO of Kwarleyz Group, where he oversees multiple interdependent specialty companies which focus on the development and construction of residential, commercial, and industrial real estate, infrastructure, smart cities, as well as financial investment and property management in West Africa.

Bediako was born in Kumasi, Ghana. He attended Accra Academy and later Apam Senior High School. He then went on to Waltham Forest College, in the UK for his Business Studies.

Upon his return to Ghana in 2001, he founded Wonda World Entertainment, an artist management business that worked with rappers like Scientific (rapper). This foray into the entertainment industry led to an opportunity to own a nightclub in Accra named Temptations.

2. Amerado Burner

Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, born 14 February 1995, best known as Amerado, is a Ghanaian rapper from Kumasi. He is the curator of Yeete Nsem, Ghana’s first news casting rap series.

After placing third at the Solid FM Freestyle Show in 2015, Amerado caught the attention of music producer, sound engineer and A&R, Azee Ntwene, who signed the rapper to his label MicBurnerz Music. Amerado was featured on a song by Mix Master Garzy intended to promote peace around the 2016 Ghanaian general election.

The following year, Amerado released his first single I AM, which Pulse Ghana included among their top 10 Ghanaian songs in January 2017.

3. Afia Schwarzenegger

Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa aka Afia Schwarzenegger born 14 February 1982, Kumasi, Ghana is a controversial Ghanaian media personality.

She was the host of Okay FM’s morning show Yewo krom and UTV Ghana’s Kokooko show and was fired from those outlets for alleged gross misconduct. She is the CEO of Schwar TV on YouTube; The CEO of QAS purified water, the host of The breakfast show and was appointed as the ambassador of Orphans in Ghana by the Association of Children Homes and Orphanages in Ghana.

She is also the founder of Leave2Live foundation, a domestic violence support group and the founder of Owontaa Street Ministry,a non profitable organisation that feeds the less privilege in Ghana Afia has also worked for TV Africa and Kasapa FM.

She came to the limelight through the Afia Schwarzenegger TV series produced by Deloris Frimpong Manso.

4. Cody Austin Deal

Deal, born February 14, 1986 is an American actor in film and television. He is best known for his role as Thor in the Syfy Original Movie Almighty Thor. He starred alongside Richard Grieco, Patricia Velasquez, and Kevin Nash.

5. Meg Tilly

Meg Tilly, born Margaret Elizabeth Chan on 14 February 1960 is an American-Canadian actress and writer.

For her role in the 1985 film Agnes of God, she won a Golden Globe Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her other film roles include Psycho II (1983), The Big Chill (1983), Masquerade (1988), and Valmont (1989).

For her role in the television series Bomb Girls (2012–13), she won the 2013 Canadian Screen Award for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Tilly has also written multiple novels, including Porcupine (2007), which was a finalist for the Sheila A. Egoff Children’s Literature Prize.

6. Simon Pegg John

Simon Pegg born 14 February 1970 is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer. He came to prominence in the UK as the co-creator of the Channel 4 sitcom Spaced (1999–2001), directed by Edgar Wright.

He and Wright co-wrote the films Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World’s End (2013), known collectively as the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, all of which saw Wright directing and Pegg starring alongside Nick Frost. Pegg and Frost also wrote and starred in the sci-fi comedy film Paul (2011).

Pegg is one of the few performers to have achieved what Radio Times calls the “Holy Grail of Nerd-dom”, having played popular supporting characters in Doctor Who (2005), Star Trek as Montgomery “Scotty” Scott (2009–2016), and Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).

He currently stars as Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible film series (2006–present), and he voiced the Chamberlain in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019). He is also known for providing the voice of Buck in Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), Ice Age: Collision Course (2016) and The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022).

7. Singer Rob Thomas 

Robert Kelly Thomas born 14 February 1972 is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist best known for being the lead singer of the rock band Matchbox Twenty.

Thomas also records and performs as a solo artist, with “Lonely No More” released in 2005 becoming his biggest solo chart success. Thomas received three Grammy Awards for co-writing and singing on the 1999 hit “Smooth” by Santana, which was also his first song as a solo artist.

He has also been a songwriter for artists such as Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger, Marc Anthony, Pat Green, Taylor Hicks, Travis Tritt, and Daughtry.

Since 1996, his band has released a string of hit singles to radio, including “Push”, “3AM”, “Real World”, “Back 2 Good”, “Bent”, “If You’re Gone”, “Mad Season”, “Disease”, “Unwell”, “Bright Lights”, “How Far We’ve Come”, and “She’s So Mean”. In 2004, the Songwriters Hall of Fame awarded Thomas its first Hal David Starlight Award, recognizing young songwriters who have already had a lasting influence in the music industry.

8. Actress Danai Gurira 

Danai Jekesai Gurira born 14 February 1978 is a Zimbabwean-American actress and playwright.

She is best known for her starring roles as Michonne on the AMC horror drama series The Walking Dead (2012–2020, 2022) and as Okoye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War (both in 2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022).

Gurira is also the playwright of the Broadway play Eclipsed, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play.

9. Jake Lacy

Jake Lacy born 14 February 1985 is an American actor. He is known for his portrayal of Pete Miller on the ninth and final season of The Office, as Fran Parker in the fourth and fifth seasons of HBO’s Girls, and his role as Shane Patton on the HBO series The White Lotus, the latter of which earned him a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

In film, he has starred in Obvious Child (2014), Carol (2015), How to Be Single (2016), Christmas Inheritance (2017), Rampage (2018), and Being the Ricardos (2021).

10. Freddie Highmore

Alfred Thomas Highmore, born 14 February 1992 is an English actor. He is known for his starring roles beginning as a child, in the films Finding Neverland (2004), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), August Rush (2007), and The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008). He won two consecutive Critics’ Choice Movie Awards for Best Young Performer.

 

Highmore starred as Norman Bates in the drama-thriller series Bates Motel (2013–2017), for which he was nominated three times for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series and won a People’s Choice Award.

In 2017, Highmore began producing and starring as Dr. Shaun Murphy in the ABC drama series The Good Doctor, for which he was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor.
