Labour minister announces national digital platform to centralise job opportunities

The minister for Labour, jobs, and employment, Dr Rashid Pelpuo, has revealed that the government will launch the Ghana Labour Market Information System this year, a digital platform designed to consolidate all public and private sector job vacancies in one place.

Speaking on GTV, Dr. Pelpuo explained that the platform, scheduled for rollout in 2026, will allow employers to post vacancies and enable job seekers, especially youth, to apply directly online without human intervention.

“You will no longer need to write letters or look for connections when jobs are announced,” he said. “If an institution is recruiting, you simply go onto the platform, apply, and receive feedback there.”

The minister said the system will act as a central hub where job openings are published, applications processed, and feedback provided. Both public institutions and private sector organisations will be required to participate, ensuring that fake or non-existent vacancies are eliminated.

Touching on industrialisation, Dr Pelpuo questioned claims that several factories were operating under the One District, One Factory policy, particularly in the Upper West Region, noting that many reported facilities were either incomplete or existed prior to the policy.

He emphasised that the government supports genuine public-private partnerships that create real jobs while continuing viable projects from previous administrations.

On green development, the minister said climate-conscious production and green jobs are now a government priority. He also highlighted long-term employment opportunities created through infrastructure projects under the 24-hour economy initiative, which provide steady income and growth prospects for workers.

Dr Pelpuo expressed confidence that the labor market information system, alongside private sector growth and green job initiatives, will significantly expand employment opportunities and provide young Ghanaians with fair and transparent access to jobs across the country.
