The West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly has taken a significant step to support the economic empowerment of persons living with disabilities in the area.
The disbursement of the items was held at the forecourt of the assembly on Tuesday (3 January 2026)
A total of 128 individuals have received essential items and cash support to boost their businesses and education.
The items distributed include 10 deep freezers, 5 hand-driven tricycles, and 1 electric sewing machine aimed at enhancing their economic activities.
Additionally, the assembly disbursed physical cash to beneficiaries who did not receive items, ranging from GHC2,000 to GHC4,000.
The Municipal Social Welfare officer, Alhaji Abdul Wahabu Ibrahim, urged the beneficiaries to utilize the items effectively for economic activities, emphasizing that the support is meant to have a lasting impact on their lives and families.
“They should keep the items that we gave to them in good condition. The essence of the items is to boost their livelihood, and when you have something that can boost your livelihood, you need not to joke with it. So our advice to them is to keep the items very well,” Alhaji Abdul Wahabu said.
He further explained that the cash support is meant to help beneficiaries stock the deep freezers they received earlier from the assembly to boost their businesses.
“People were already given deep freezers in our previous disbursement. So, We consider giving them the money to stock the deep freezers. The essence of given the cash is to stock the deep freezers that we gave them sometime ago.”
The assembly disclosed that the total support, including items and cash, amounts to GHC 332,150
