Since its inception, the African Prosperity Dialogues (APD) has consistently influenced African Union (AU) initiatives, with APD 2026 set to continue this trend by highlighting actionable protocols in trade and digital integration.
Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, Chairman of the Africa Prosperity Network, told the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday (3 February) that APD recommendations, including the continent-wide mobile money interoperability framework, have been adopted by AU institutions and regional economic communities, with a target implementation date of 2027.
“These frameworks allow African entrepreneurs to trade across borders using local currencies and mobile wallets, without intermediaries,” Otchere-Darko explained. “It is the fastest route to enhancing intra-African trade.”
APD 2026 will feature sessions on scaling SMEs across borders, fintech innovations, youth-led creative industries, and the implementation of trade protocols, bringing together institutional leaders, regulators, and industry experts.
