The New Patriotic Party–USA (NPP-USA), an external Branch, warmly congratulates Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his election as the Party’s Flagbearer following a competitive presidential primary.
This moment marks not only the successful conclusion of an internal democratic process but also the beginning of a renewed collective responsibility to unite, reorganize, and prepare for victory in the 2028 general elections.
NPP-USA commends all aspirants who participated in the contest for their commitment, sacrifice, and fidelity to the party’s democratic traditions. Their contributions elevated the debate, strengthened internal accountability, and reaffirmed the NPP’s standing as a mature, rules-based political organization. As Dr. Bawumia himself has emphasised, “It matters not which side you supported… we are in this together.”
We are particularly encouraged by the Flagbearer-Elect’s call for unity, reconciliation, and discipline within the party. His message that this is a time to “forgive and go forward, building on the mistakes of the past and the energy generated by reconciliation to create a new future,” reflects the tone and leadership Ghana needs at this critical juncture.
NPP-USA fully aligns with Bawumia’s appeal for an inclusive, ideas-driven political culture grounded in substance, not division, collaboration, not exclusion. His commitment to “the politics of ideas over personal innuendoes, and the politics of inclusion over sectarian declarations” resonates strongly with the diaspora, whose members remain deeply invested in Ghana’s democratic stability and economic progress.
We also welcome his clear recognition of the enormity of the task ahead, particularly the need to reorganize party structures, strengthen internal discipline, and re-engage the base, especially the youth. As he rightly noted, “The future of our party rests on the energy, dedication, and commitment of our youth.” NPP-USA stands ready to support these efforts through advocacy, mobilization, and sustained engagement across the diaspora.
As a vital external branch of the party, NPP-USA pledges its complete, unified, and unwavering support to Dr. Bawumia and the national leadership of the New Patriotic Party. We will work tirelessly to help consolidate the party, amplify its message abroad, and contribute meaningfully to the collective effort to recapture power in 2028.
This is a moment for discipline, unity of purpose, and forward motion. The contest is over; the mission continues.
Once again, congratulations to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
