A Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations, Stan Dogbe, has issued a public apology after a video showing him pushing a military officer during a state ceremony sparked widespread criticism.
The incident occurred on Friday at the Ghana Military Academy graduation ceremony attended by President John Dramani Mahama.
The officer, who was operating a camera, was seen being forcefully pushed aside as he attempted to film the president.
In a Facebook post following the incident, Dogbe said his actions were prompted by what he described as repeated disruptions to a live camera feed.
“I apologise to my friend, Cpl Ofosu, for physically pushing him away after his repeated disruption of a live camera operator during today’s ceremony,” he wrote.
He also extended the apology to other security personnel and called for better coordination at official public events.
The video circulated widely on social media, drawing renewed attention to conduct and protocol at high-level government functions.
Public reactions have ranged from condemnation of the physical confrontation to calls for clearer operational roles among security and media teams during state ceremonies.
