Ghanaian-South African entrepreneur and founder and chief executive officer of Bakari International, Paula Tabirih – Khoali, has been nominated for the fifth edition of the Forty Under 40 Africa Awards in the category of Marketing and Communications.
The 37-year-old business leader is being recognised for her work in sourcing, marketing, and exporting African produce to global markets, while supporting smallholder farmers to access international value chains under fair trade principles.
Her company, Bakari International, operates across eight African countries, working with farmers as brand custodians and positioning African produce in premium global markets through strategic storytelling and market development.
Reacting to the nomination, Tabirih-Khoali said the recognition goes beyond personal achievement. “Being nominated, and hopefully winning, this award will not only honour my long entrepreneurial journey but also validate a powerful truth: when one is driven by purpose, they can change economies,” she said.
“It is a reminder to keep believing in yourself. Whenever you find something you’re good at, which in my case is leveraging market knowledge to create business opportunities, let purpose lead. I’m proud to be called to the table of Africa’s best.”
She added that such recognition highlights Africa’s growing leadership in ethical and premium agricultural trade while opening opportunities for young people to reshape global trade narratives.
The nomination follows what the company describes as a record year for Bakari International, reflecting its expanding footprint and impact across the continent.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for 14 February 2026 at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra.
The Forty Under 40 Africa Awards, held under the theme “Celebrating continental champions,” honours outstanding business leaders under the age of 40 who are making significant contributions across various sectors.
This year’s edition is expected to receive endorsements from institutions including the Office of the President (Diaspora Affairs), the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment.
