On Monday, 19 January 2026, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded swiftly to an institutional (warehouse) fire at the Ghana Water Company Central Stores, Ashaiman Golf City, following a distress call at 0018 hours.
Fire crews arrived at 0025 hours and, with reinforcement from two (2) additional pumps from the Tema Metro and Industrial Area Fire Stations, successfully confined the fire at 0143 hours, brought it under control at 0322 hours, and fully extinguished it at 0350 hours.
The fire destroyed production materials and machine parts in Warehouse “D”; however, firefighters successfully salvaged six (6) workers’ quarters and two (2) adjoining warehouses, namely Warehouses “B” and “C”. No casualties were recorded, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The first crew was led by ADO I Samuel Darko, with operational supervision from ACFO II Patrick Sallah (Regional Fire Officer, Tema), DO II Fiifi Oppong (Regional Operations), and DO II Ebenezer Yenzu (Municipal Fire Officer, Tema Metro).
