Management of gospel musician Esther Smith has issued a strong rebuttal to social media reports alleging that Pastor Elvis Agyemang of Alpha Hour demanded or received money in exchange for prayers.

In a press release dated 15 January 2026, Esther Smith Music described the claims as “false, misleading, and a gross distortion of facts,” urging the public to disregard what it termed speculative and sensational narratives circulating online.

According to the statement, the management team interacted directly with Pastor Elvis Agyemang and the Alpha Hour team during a recent engagement and encountered no instance where money was requested, demanded, or charged for prayers.

“We wish to state unequivocally that during our engagement with Pastor Elvis Agyemang and the Alpha Hour team, we were treated with respect, dignity, and genuine pastoral care,” the statement said.

The release further noted that the team received adequate security and logistical support, adding that all interactions were conducted with professionalism and integrity.

Management also vouched for the character of the Alpha Hour convener, describing Pastor Agyemang as a leader who has demonstrated “consistent character, accountability, and transparency.”

“Any narratives portraying him otherwise are inaccurate and should be disregarded,” the statement stressed.

Esther Smith’s management called on the general public, members of the Alpha Hour community, and fans of the musician to ignore misleading commentary and sensational headlines related to the matter.

The statement also appealed to media practitioners and bloggers to exercise responsibility by verifying information before publication, warning that unsubstantiated reports could mislead the public and damage reputations.

“This statement is issued in the interest of truth, clarity, and peace,” the release concluded.

The clarification comes amid heightened public debate on social media over allegations of monetisation of prayers within some religious spaces.
