Princess Burland launches Diya Impact Foundation to promote early health screening in Ghana

Ghanaian entrepreneur and public figure Princess Burland has launched the Diya Impact Foundation, introducing a new health initiative dubbed “Know Your Numbers” aimed at promoting early health screening and preventive healthcare in Ghana.

The initiative, scheduled for 16 May at Nyamekye Traffic Light Junction, will offer free body mass index (BMI) checks, hepatitis B testing, blood screenings and other basic health assessments to members of the public.

The exercise will also provide free registration onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for individuals without active health insurance coverage.

Speaking ahead of the launch, Princess Burland said the campaign seeks to encourage Ghanaians to prioritise routine health checks and become more aware of their health conditions before complications arise.

“We’ve normalised guessing when it comes to our health. People don’t know their numbers — their blood levels, their risks, their status — until something goes wrong. ‘Know Your Numbers’ is about changing that culture completely,” she said.

According to the Diya Impact Foundation, the initiative is intended to address barriers that often prevent people from seeking regular medical screening, including cost, fear and limited awareness.

The event is being supported by Pizzaman-Chickenman, which will provide complimentary meals for participants during the screening exercise.

Princess Burland said the foundation’s long-term vision extends beyond healthcare delivery to include economic empowerment through business support and mentorship programmes.

“Health and financial stability go hand in hand. You can’t truly build or grow when your health is uncertain. And you can’t sustain good health without stability. This foundation is about addressing both,” she added.

The Diya Impact Foundation says the “Know Your Numbers” campaign forms part of broader efforts to encourage preventive healthcare practices and improve public access to basic medical services across communities in Ghana.
