The Adweso District Police Command has launched a manhunt for two students of New Juaben Senior High School (NUJUSCO) following a machete attack on a student of Koforidua Senior High Technical School (SECTECH) during an ongoing interschools sports competition.
The incident occurred near a waakye joint opposite the ARB Apex Bank, close to the stadium hosting the competition.
The victim, identified as Jerome Appiah, a final-year science student of SECTECH, was reportedly eating at the joint when he was attacked.
According to eyewitness accounts, the attack was carried out by a Form Two student of NUJUSCO, who was accompanied by an accomplice. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Jerome Appiah sustained a deep machete wound to the shoulder and bled profusely.
He was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital by the police with the assistance of a teacher, where he was stabilized and admitted for further treatment.
The suspects are currently on the run, and police say investigations are ongoing to ensure their arrest.
