Voting in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primary is progressing smoothly, with high delegate turnout and strong security measures, a member of the party’s legal team said on Saturday.
Ross Osei Owusu, a private legal practitioner and member of the NPP Legal Directorate, spoke on Asaase Election Nerve Centre’s special edition of The Forum on Saturday (31 January), praising the work of the presidential election committee.
“We are very pleased with the way things are being conducted. Security is top-notch and the delegates are turning out in their numbers,” he said.
Owusu acknowledged minor issues with some delegates not finding their names on voting lists, but noted these were quickly resolved. “We are praying that all the other areas with minor issues will move swiftly to resolve them,” he said.
According to Owusu, the orderly conduct of the primaries ensures that aspirants can have confidence in a fair process, adding that the party is preparing for a series of internal elections leading up to the selection of its 2028 flagbearer.
